Moving pictures help move product

It’s been while since we called to mind the famous Pat Doyle post, “23 Great Ideas For Blog Posts.” In the past we’ve covered two important ones:

Next up is something a that will take a bit more work, but with it comes a much higher upside: “create your own video post.”

It’s no secret that with some good video content, your video can stir up some serious activity on YouTube. But it doesn’t end there. A lot of blogs (including Clicksharp) will embed YouTube videos to add value to their text and image based content, bypassing the YouTube interface and retaining control over the presentation of their material. But as usual, to develop great content, the usual criteria apply to increase your video content’s chances for success:

  • Direct: beat around the bush at your own risk.
  • Relevant: you’ve got to pass the “Why Do I Care?” test
  • Professional: good quality production doesn’t take a ton of expertise when your video is 450 pixels wide
  • Thorough: if your company name, URL, logo, and/or tagline aren’t in there, you’re just wasting precious mindshare.

And if we’re going to talk about guerilla video blogging, might as well look at an example. This Los Angeles based chiropractor claims he was just experimenting when he took this video–but the result was a barrage of phone calls the same afternoon he posted it:

Take note–sometimes your next big marketing idea is right under your nose. With a little creativity and some familiarity with social media, you could soon be out in front of a whole new customer base.
